What Is the Question Beneath Your Journey?

The question beneath your Camino journey

Before the first step, there is often a quieter movement: the reason we feel called to go.

Pilgrims speak of being called to the Camino. Sometimes that call is clear: gratitude, grief, faith, discernment, or the desire to begin again. Sometimes it is no more than a restlessness that refuses to be explained.

You do not need to solve that restlessness before you walk. An intention is not a demand you place on the Camino. It is a way of becoming attentive. It gives you something to return to when the road is beautiful, when the rain arrives, when your body is tired, and when the days become ordinary.

Before departure, try finishing one sentence: “I am walking with…” Leave room after the words. Your answer may be a person, a prayer, a decision, a sorrow, or a hope. It may change before you reach Santiago. That is not failure. The road has a way of loosening the answers we packed too tightly.

Carry your intention lightly. Let it accompany you rather than control you. The Camino does not promise a revelation on command. It offers time, repetition, encounters, silence, and the next yellow arrow. Often, that is enough.

A QUESTION TO CARRY — What am I willing to hear when the noise falls away?
